Henriette von Stockhausen
VSP Interiors was founded in 2000 by friends and designers Henriette von Stockhausen and Jane Petti. Since 2010 the business has been led by Henriette, the company’s Creative Director Henriette. She studied at City & Guild of London Art Schools and gained a master’s degree at Sotheby’s Institute where she honed her appreciation and love for antique furniture and decorative design from 17th Century through to 20th Century before continuing her studies at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design, where she gained experience with leading interior designers including Stephen Ryan (then head of David Hicks Design.) She also had a spell in theatre design which enabled her to indulge her more flamboyant side and made her realize just how much she relishes any challenge.
Her childhood and early years were spent in Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland, where she widened her knowledge and appreciation of international architecture and the arts. She has a very grounded knowledge of both architectural history and quality craftsmanship that is needed together with a wealth of quality artisan craftsmen artists and specialist suppliers.
Having grown up surrounded by incredible antiques Henriette enjoys including them in her schemes. She loves combining rich colours, interesting prints and antiques to create a layered interior with lots of interest and a warm lived-in comfort. This approach enables Henriette and her dynamic team to specialize in designing authentic interiors for listed buildings and homes of architectural interest. Working in the UK and overseas, they undertake projects of all sizes, providing a highly bespoke and dedicated service.
When planning the interiors of period properties VSP believes in preserving quality craftsmanship and architectural features while introducing contemporary elements through the use of color, texture and styling. The juxtaposition of the new with the old creates a modern look that works equally well in the town and country.
Henriette always tries to mix a few modern pieces into a very traditional set up or the other way round using a few amazing antique pieces in a modern surrounding, “creating a juxtaposition and keeping things interesting for the eye - something unexpected always does the trick. This can also be done with scale- something very big in a small space for example will create a focal point of interest and make the small space seem extraordinary.”
VSP Interiors aim to use local craftsmen and artisans in all their interiors - to create a one-off custom finish/look.
They have an extensive little black book full of incredible artisans ranging from a wonderful stonemason who specializes in antique fireplaces and their restoration to amazing furniture makers who create true one-off pieces in addition to contemporary artists who provide many of the finishing touches. Henriette is always commissioning custom-made pieces for her clients such as vanity units, four poster beds and dining tables – unique items that are difficult to find. Today Henriette describes her style as classic in architecture and bones, colorful and eclectic with a mix of old and new in decoration.
Henriette has collaborated with furniture brand Oficina Inglesa on a furniture collection inspired by classic English design which includes four-poster beds, coronas, bedside tables and dining chairs spring 2026.
Since 2017, VSP Interiors has been included in Country Life’s ‘secret address book’. The article lists the 100 best architects, builders, and interior and landscape designers in Britain. Henriette has been listed as one of the best interior designers with Country Life commenting “A perfect choice for young families moving into a big country home”. VSP was shortlisted for the 2018 Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award and their work was featured in the 22nd Volume of the Interior Design Review book. Additionally, VSP Interiors has been consistently included in House & Garden’s Top 100 Designers since 2018 and Country & Town House’s list of 50 Finest Interior Designers since 2019.
