New York School of Interior Design/Rooms with a View
Vaughan is honored to be the 2024 Sponsor for the New York School of Interior Design/Rooms With A View Scholarship
The RWAV/NYSID Scholarship was developed to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and to honor the late Albert Hadley.
Albert was a big believer in developing and promoting young talent and we thought this scholarship was a fitting tribute to his unwavering support of Rooms with a View.
Our 2024 Winner:
Carissa Kim Pintello
Carissa Kim Pintello
MFA in Interior Design, 3rd Year
Though Carissa is currently an MFA student studying at the New York School of Interior Design, she had a roundabout path into the field. Raised in Central Florida, Carissa originally got her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida and taught immigrant children in the public-school sector for 3 years. As a creative release from teaching, Carissa started refinishing furniture for local antique shops, before deciding to start her own business, a curated vintage home goods shop called Sentiment Company. Through the process of collecting vintage and antique pieces, Carissa learned about design history, color, textiles, and architecture. After letting the idea simmer, Carissa quit her job, sold her house, and moved to NYC with her husband Gunnar to finally pursue her dream of becoming an interior designer. Some things that drive Carissa as a designer-in-training are the pursuit of housing equity, the juxtaposition of contrasting cultures and eras, along with incorporation of artisans. She is thrilled to get to join such an incredible cause, alongside such talented designers, while getting to make something beautiful along the way.
The Application Process
Applicants will submit designs for a residential space that will be judged by a panel selected by the NYSID. The RWAV scholarship will be awarded each May to students in their Sophomore or Junior years. The winning student will be invited to do a vignette at RWAV.
